One more beach in Bantul area should be included in your tour agenda, Kuwaru beach, located in the Poncosari, Srandakan, Bantul, Yogyakarta. It is a shame to pass up this place.

Playing waves or just sitting on the beach enjoying the blue sea and the waves chasing each other can be a panacea of your daily routine work or study.

Visiting the beach is not complete if you does not play with the water, especially when the waves come and touch our bodies would be nice. Yet for your own safety, you should not bathe or swim until the middle of the sea. To clean our body from the sea water or sand, around the coast there are a number of toilets.

After You satisfield playing waves, if feels hungry, at the Kuwaru beach area there are many food sellers who offering a variety of foods ranging from packaged snack manufacturer, traditional cakes to fried foods. If you feel thirsty, there are more options available, various ice cream, cold water, and ronde (drink based from ginger extract) are often found.

According to traders around the beach coast, the number of visitors who came is relatively stable even though it was not a holiday season or on Sunday, so they are not worried with their sale omzet. In addition, around the coast there are several food stalls, which are ready to process various marine products from fresh fish that catching by the fishermen can be enjoyed in a variety of cuisines, and about the price, is more cheaper than the seafood restaurant in town. Seeing the potential for great seafood product, is not surprised if in the future Kuwaru beach will be developed into an integrated fishing port.

It is reasonable, when many tourists come to the Kuwaru beach, because besides having a beautiful panorama and the seafood culinary alternative place, Kuwaru beach relatively has a cool weather. Unlike most barren beach with intense hot air, on this beach is growing acacia trees and pine trees. These trees are purposely planted to reduce abrasion that from year to year even worse. The increasing number of tourists should also be going along with infrastructure improvements such as road maintenance and a signboard directing Kuwaru beach.

Sari temple establishment has a close relationship with Kalasan temple. According to archaeologists from BP3 (Archeological Heritage Preservation Hall) Yogyakarta, Sari Temple is a temple or a dormitory building reserved for the priests, while the temple is a place of worship Kalasan. Thus in terms of location, both relatively close to this temple. Sari Temple is approximately 0.5 km northeast of Kalasan temple, precisely in Bendan, Tirtomartani, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta.

Evidence of links between Sari temple with Kalasan temple, both founded in the same period, namely around the 8th century AD. In addition, these two temples are both using the bajralepa technique to coat the temple walls. Bajralepa is a stucco coating that can smooth the surface of the wall of the temple and preserve the rock so as not to wear out quickly. It is important to preserve buildings, whether it is an ancient temple or the Britannia Hotel Gatwick Airport, as allowing them to crumble to dust would be a waste of the time and labour involved in their construction. But over time, now at Temple layer Sari bajralepa had the loose. Even more the condition of the temple was no longer like the original intact. This temple had the first restoration that completed in 1930. The number of the missing temple stone made Sari temple restoration not maximum.

Sari temple entrance facing east, adorned with kala and at the bottom carved a man riding an elephant. Inside the temple there are three chambers that lined the room and each connected with the door between the barriers. Each chamber measuring 3 m wide and 5.8 m long, divided into upper and lower chambers. Estimated the distribution the upper and lower chamber was using wood, it is seen on the walls still has the holes to put the end of the block. Even more on the south wall of the chamber there are some angled carved stone, a sign indicating it was leaning on the stairs. In the lower chamber each having niches in the north and south sides decorated with kala makara.

On the outside of this rectangular temple, carved statues placed into two rows between the two windows. This is a statue of Bodhisattva with a total of 38 statues divided into eight on the east side, eight on the north side, eight on the south side and 14 on the west side. Commonly, statue holding the red and blue lotus, and all the statues described in graceful attitude (tribhangga). Based on the findings of statues and stupa’s shape, can be known Sari temple is a Buddhist background temple. On the right and left of the window was carved kinari kinara— creature from heaven shapes half-human and half bird.

Sari temple complex is now located right in the middle of residential population, from the highway Yogya – Solo the temple is not visible. As a barrier to people's houses, Sari temple area surrounded by a fence. In addition to the parks and trees, the temple area also features a number of cement bench at some point. So that tourists can take a short rest. Also, from this bench the beauty of relief that decorated the outside walls of the temple can be seen clearly.

Perhaps your current image to visit the Temple Kedulan is an ancient temple still standing strong. Unfortunately the beauty temple Kedulan could not fully enjoy because this time, the temple is located in the Kedulan, Tirtomartani, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta is still under reconstruction.

In the middle basin of land large enough only visible part of the foot Kedulan temple. While other parts of the body and roof of the temple placed on the other side of this temple area. Parts of the body and roof of the temple Kedulan condition no longer intact, so take time to rearrange the stones of the temple which was free to fit the original design.

On September 24, 1993, the temple was found in a state Kedulan collapsed and buried by volcanic lava and sediment thickness of 8 m which is composed of 15 layers of sediment. At that time, miners were digging sand, then at a depth of approximately 3 meters visible structure of the temple stones. From this location found Sumundul Inscription and Panangaran Inscription. The writing on both inscription was using the letter and the ancient Javanese language dated Çaka 791 or 869 AD that once made an estimate of time temple Kedulan establishment. In broad outline of the contents of the inscription is a dawuhan (dam) that is used by people from two villages namely Panangaran and Parhyangan and obligation to pay taxes.

From the results of reconstruction is known that the building of Kedulan temple has a main square temple and three perwara temple on the east side of the main temple. This temple is estimated to have a yard fence I and II, but until now only yard I found the fence on the north-south. The main temple has a size smaller than the foot of the temple of 4 x 4 m. Body of the temple has a cubicle containing a phallus and yoni with the entrance on the east. While on either side of the entrance there are niches containing the statue of Mahakala and Nandiswara. Yoni spout to the north and the north wall under the niche in the hole (water channels) into the hall.

Although parts of the body and roof of the temple of this Hindu religion background is not completed, but the temple Kedulan still interesting to visit. Unlike the other temples are built on a hill, this temple just below the surface of the ground with a depth of approximately 8 m. Things like this will remind Sambisari temple which is also under the surface. Later, if Kedulan temple has been renovated this temple must have looked very pretty. Because in addition to a unique location, this temple relief is very beautiful. Decorated with makara and gods, from the rocks that have not been completely stack, we can see a kind of relief that appeared motif of batik done with great detail.

To find the location of Kalasan temple is not difficult. From highway Yogya – Solo, about 14 km east of Yogyakarta, the temple in the south of the road would have seen. Just need to enter the narrow street about 50 m, we have entered the temple complex that administratively into the territory Kalibening, Tirtomartani, Kalasan, Sleman, Yogyakarta.

Based on the inscription dated 700 Çaka, known background Kalasan establishment of this temple is the demand for teachers of Maharaja Tejahpurana to build shrine to the goddess Tara. As a form of offering to the goddess, the temple design course was designed following the best possible material. But Kalasan temple which was built around the year 778 AD was also not lost with age. Now, the building was not Kalasan temple whole again as before, although this temple was never restored by the Dutch in the year 1927 to 1929. Nevertheless, some privileges Kalasan temple other than the temple still we can see. Among them, the temple walls are coated bajralepa stucco coating the outer side of the building which gives effect to the Diding golden temple. Based on laboratory analysis bajralepa element consists of quartz sand (30%), calcite (40%), kalkopirit (25%) and clay (5%). Also on the east side Kalasan temple, right in front of the stairs inside, we can find the rare stone board which forms nearly half circle. Stone monolith is also often called the stone-month or moonstone.

At each entrance are still intact, both north and south are the chief ornament of that special time, namely on the crest there are flower buds, leaves and tendrils. In the upper jaw there is a lion ornaments on either side, the top of the tree decorated deity in heaven, and also painting inscribed with the inhabitants of heaven clouds play sounds. Similarly, other niches also found time series and makara. In the upper body of the temple there is a cube-shaped building which is regarded as the peak of Mount Meru and the surrounding there are stupas depicting a mountain peak.

This temple has a central chamber where there is a throne made of stone that has a pedestal and a back that was flanked on either side by ornamental lion standing on an elephant. Comfortable, maybe this is the first impression we will feel when entered into Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum. Residential atmosphere that serve as the museum which located on Jl. Tamansiswa No. 25 Yogyakarta is beautiful. The owner, Ki Hajar Dewantara wanted his residence to be a museum. Various types of books stored in cabinets, desk chairs, ancient briefcase to witness history as well as the important part and parcel of everyday life of a fighter and national education leaders. Simplicity of the famous with the slogan “Ing ngarsa sung tuladha, Ing madya mangun karsa, Tut wuri handayani“ we can see through his personal belongings. In the bedroom of Ki Hajar Dewantara which is not too extensive, lies well preserved some clothes he usually wear, brush caps, combs, canes to help walk, white bed with bed hanging even glasses that are his trademark. A number of youth photos, organization, family pictures featuring the sons and daughters of Ki Hajar Dewantara, silver wedding photographs decorate the walls of this 300 square meters building.

160 mortar projectiles that stored in a glass case at Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum is one of two Dutch mortar that deliberately directed to Tamansiswa in January 1949. This is evidence of how the Dutch feel disturbed by the constant resistance of Ki Hajar Dewantara resistant. Spirit to keep fighting to escape the confines of colonial felt very distinct in his statement displayed on one wall of the museum “Kita haroes mempoenjai kekoeatan dan kepribadian dalam menghadapi perdjoeangan nasional ini. Djika tidak maka selamanja saoedara-saoedara akan tetap mendjadi boedak. Lepaskan diri dari perboedakan ini” (We must have the strenght and personality in the face of this national struggle. If not then slave you will forever be, comrade. Remove yourself from this slavery!". A row of plaques of honor displayed in one corner of the museum, although the value of his contribution to this nation far more than that, even priceless. For his services are very large also the government set the date of birth of Ki Hajar Dewantara 2nd of May as Educational National Day.

Although the renovation several times, including when the earthquake strucked Yogyakarta in 2006, the museum manager retains the authenticity of the building of Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum. Building form and layout of the room is still the same, also the museum floor tiles that still use old-fashioned. The existence of the library which is located just south of the building Ki Hajar Dewantara’s house supporting facilities Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum. A number of archives, important documents and books, a collection of Ki Hajar Dewantara which can not be accommodated entirely in the museum, can be viewed at this library. Yayasan Persatuan Perguruan Tamansiswa (Tamansiswa Unity College Foundation) as the manager of the museum will remain committed to protecting and preserving the relics of Ki Hajar Dewantara. This commitment is evidenced by still keeping a number of other collections such as old radio and telephone, glassware, antique furniture and rocking chairs used by Ki Hajar Dewantara daily. Museum managers firmly rejected the demand from several parties who want to buy the relics of Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum even offered with a very high price.

Visiting Yogyakarta tourism object is not complete without coming to Fort Vredeburg Museum. This fortress has a high historical value to the struggle against the tyranny. Before known as the Fort Vredeburg as now, the fort was named Fort Rustenburg.

In the year 1760, at the request of the Netherlands, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono I—the Sultan of Yogyakarta— built a very simple square fort on the land owned by the Kraton (palace). On each corner stands a bastion or seleka which resembling a turtle shape with four legs. By the Sultan the four corners was named Jayawisesa (northwest corner), Jayapurusa (northeast corner), Jayaprakosaning (southwest corner) and Jayaprayitna (southeast corner). Then, under the supervision of architect from the Netherlands named Ir. Frans Haak, in the year 1767 the fort reconstruction was take place. When the building was finished, the fort named Fort Rustenburg which means “Fort of resort”.

In the beginning this initial establishment of the fort was actually a strategy from the Netherlands for the Sultan’s Palace security, though the real intention is to monitor the movement of Sultan’s Palace itself. From inside the fort, the Dutch could easily lead a number of cannons precisely on the Sultan’s Palace if revolt emerges from the Sultan’s Palace, because the fort is close to the Sultan’s Palace.

Devastating earthquake in 1867 in Yogyakarta, causing the collapse of many important buildings in Yogyakarta including Fort Rustenburg. Soon, all the buildings were rebuild and reform. After completion, the name Fort Rustenburg changes to “Fort Vredeburg” which means “Fort of Peace”. The name is taken as a manifestation of the relationship between the Sultanate of Yogyakarta and the Netherlands to cease aggression at that time.

On August 9, 1980 with the approval of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono IX Fort Vredeburg serve as Center of Information and National Culture Development. On April 16, 1985 a restoration was carried out in order to the fort became a museum of struggle. The museum opened to the public in 1987. Dated November, 23 1992 Fort Vredeburg was officially served as a museum of struggle with the name “Museum of Fort Vredeburg”. Because it has functioned as a modern museum, Fort Vredeburg has a complete collection includes collection of buildings, collection of realia, collection of photographs including replicas and miniatures and painting collections. In addition, there are four diorama rooms of the history of Indonesian struggle.
